Crafting Gospel-Centered Resources in Spanish Since 2010
Backdrop
As gospel-centered theology gained a foothold in the Spanish-speaking world in the first decade of the 2000s, Poiema’s founder, David Adams, saw the need for Spanish-language resources to support growth and maturity.
Against a backdrop of Catholicism and the prosperity-gospel, few gospel-centered Spanish-language resources existed. Those that did were prohibitively expensive, hard to find, or unappealing to the average reader.
Poiema is the Greek word that Paul uses in Ephesians 2:10 (workmanship) to describe those “created in Christ Jesus” as God’s masterpiece. Our word poem (poema in Spanish) comes from poiema. At Poiema, we craft resources that reflect God’s truth, beauty, and grace.
Timeline
2010
Beginnings
David Adams and his father, pastor and missionary Jim Adams, made plans to travel with Tedd Tripp and host parenting conferences in several Latin American cities. Alongside this trip, they would publish Shepherding a Child’s Heart and a children’s catechism in Spanish.
2011
Book of the Year!
In March, they released the two books at the first conference in Medellín, Colombia, where many received them excitedly, asking for more resources in Spanish. As they travelled, they heard this request repeated across Latin America. With the support of a generous grant, David officially established Poiema, and several more books were published, including a book on the Proverbs that won “Book of the Year” from the Latin American Christian publishing network.
2013
Growing Catalog
The Poiema catalog had grown to include titles like War of Words (Tripp), When People Are Big and God Is Small (Welch), and The Unfolding Mystery (Clowney). Our partnership with other Latin American publishers led to a connection with The Good Book Company, who invited Poiema to translate and publish Tim Keller’s Galatians for You.
2018
Building New Things
With the generous support of many, we purchased our beautiful building in the heart of Medellín, Colombia. We also hosted our first Muestra a Cristo (Show Us Christ) conference.
2022
Growing…
Volvamos al Evanglio (Let’s Return to the Gospel) joined the Poiema family.
2023
Growing Some More!
Our ministry grew again as the BITE Project and Faro De Gracia joined the Poiema family, bringing an increased online presence and 220 more titles!

500 titles and counting! We have distributors in 20+ countries and millions access our resources online each year. We work for the glory of God and pray that our ministry would continue to grow so that more might praise His name!
